Myriam is a Non-Directive Play Therapist in private practice based in Douglas, Cork since 2007. She has over eighteen years of experience supporting children and families with emotional and behavioural challenges. Myriam provides Play Therapy interventions, parental consultations and clinical supervision for qualified Play Therapists.
Myriam began her career with a BA (Hons) in UCC and worked in a residential home for teenagers displaying challenging behaviours. Moving on to work as a Project Worker with a School Completion Programme, working with children in DEIS (disadvantaged) primary schools. Myriam also conducted research on the emotional and behavioural needs of children in Irish DEIS schools. She also worked as a Child Development Specialist, assessing and addressing the emotional and behavioural needs of children in the homeless services in Cork.
Myriam co-ordinates the Masters in Play Therapy programme in Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) in addition to teaching on the Social Care, Early Childhood Care and Education and Community Development programmes.
Myriam is on a panel as Academic Subject Matter Expert with Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI). Myriam’s area of academic interest is the personal development journey and supervision needs of trainee Play Therapists.
