Post Graduate Diploma Non-Directive Play Therapy (University of York)

BA(QTS) English and Primary Teaching (University of Surrey)

Personal Bio:

Sheila has over 20 years of experience working with children and their parents both in the classroom and the play therapy setting.  In her experience as a special education teacher, she has encountered many children with various neuro-developmental difficulties and she has used various creative methods to support their development.

Sheila has children of her own and understands the challenges faced by parents, in particular those with additional needs. She has facilitated support groups for parents of children with special needs and wishes to empower and support them in being an advocate for their children. Sheila uses the C.P.R..T (Child Parent Relationship Training) model with parents who want to strengthen relationships with their children and nurture connections through play.

Area of Interest:

Sheila has a special interest in working with children with developmental delay and autism. She incorporates the Learn to Play Therapy model in her practice with young children. She believes in developing and promoting trauma-informed practice in schools. Sheila is also passionate about children’s early movement patterns and physical literacy and how this can impact on building a solid foundation for the nervous system to develop.
